Superstition Mountain Wilderness Area

Superstition Mountain Wilderness Area

The following video clips are part of my exploration of the Superstition Mountain Wilderness Area and learning how to use all the equipment in advance of Catherine and I’s world voyage.

Superstition mountain is a striking place that you can’t help but notice from anywhere within view of the range. Often called just the ‘Superstitions’ this range holds tremendous meaning to many different groups. The short videos below are taken from the western side. I along with my older brother followed a marked trail about half way up. Being that this is a desert climate and June – the temperature was hot hot hot. I’ve got hundreds of kilometers of hiking trail experience under my belt, but never have I hiked in heat like this. And according to all the locals they are having a cold spell!

Early in the morning I will be setting out to climb to the top as I noted in the video. I will be accessing it hopefully from the Peralta Canyon trail. I will probably have to leave the ‘official’ trail but that’s normal for me. If you don’t hear from me for a few days you will know where to start looking for me…
